Reinhardt van der Merwe is a native of Swellendam, deeply rooted in his local community. He completed his high school education at Hoërskool Swellendam and embarked on his journey in the field of optometry.

Passionate about delivering top-notch eye care services, Reinhardt joined the family practice in Swellendam, which has been serving the community since 1983. His commitment to providing the highest level of care is evident in his continuous pursuit of postgraduate studies at the esteemed New England College of Optometry. This commitment has enabled him to use diagnostic medicines in his practice, offering a comprehensive approach to eye health.

Ms. Suzette Hoek

Ms. Hoek has been working at Van der Merwe Optometrists since November 2007.

She is an esteemed resident of Swellendam and is responsible for lens orders, invoice generation, and general administration.

Mr. Thomas (Tommie) Lombaard

Tommie has been a long-serving employee at the company since April 1985.

He is skilled with his hands and can repair anything from car engines to delicate frames.

He is our technician responsible for cutting and fitting lenses.

Ms. Wilna Fourie

Ms. Fourie joined the company in August 2016.

Originally from Gauteng, Swellendam has become her “forever” town.

She handles general reception and accounts.

Ms. Vanessa Mdliwa

Vanessa joined the team in March 2019.

She is our energetic cleaner and an entrepreneur who is always busy improving herself.
